Buying from Amazon US when you live in Egypt
Amazon US does not deliver most of its catalogue to Egypt, and the part it does deliver often prices badly. Here is what actually works.

Amazon US has the deepest catalogue in the world, and from Egypt most of it is behind a wall. You find the thing, you get to checkout, and the address form quietly tells you it cannot be delivered. Or worse: it can, at an estimated import charge that is a range rather than a number.
This guide is about what actually works.
Why Amazon says no
Most items on Amazon US are sold by third-party sellers rather than by Amazon, and those sellers set their own delivery regions. The great majority do not offer Egypt. Amazon's own "ships internationally" selection is a small slice of the catalogue and is skewed towards exactly the bulky, cheap goods that are least worth bringing in.
There is also a second wall people meet later. Amazon estimates an import deposit at checkout, and it is an estimate: it can be more, it can be less, and reconciling it is your problem. If you have ever paid an import deposit and then been asked for more, that is the model working as designed.
What is worth buying there
The Amazon catalogue is enormous, so the question is not "is Amazon good" but "which parts of it survive the arithmetic". The pattern is the same as everywhere: expensive for its size, or unavailable in Egypt.
Usually worth it
Headphones, speakers, cameras and their accessories
Laptop and phone accessories — the specific dock, cable or case nobody here stocks
Specialist tools and hobby equipment
Books in English that no Egyptian shop carries, if you are ordering several
Replacement parts for something you already own
Usually not
Anything in a large box for under about $60 — bulky and cheap is the worst combination there is
Supplements and powders, which are big light tubs
Household basics available in Egypt
Cheap accessories bought one at a time
The reasoning behind that split is in what it really costs to buy from America to Egypt, and the size half of it in why two things at the same price cost very different amounts.
The Amazon-specific traps
The price on the page may not be the seller's price. Amazon shows several offers for one product. Check which seller you are actually looking at, and whether it is sold by Amazon or by a marketplace seller — it changes the price, the authenticity risk and what happens if something is wrong.
"Frequently returned item" and thin review counts. Amazon US carries a lot of unbranded goods with manufactured reviews. From Egypt you have no practical way to return something, so the cost of a bad choice is the entire landed price, not just the annoyance.
Deal prices expire. A lightning deal that has ended by the time an order is placed is a different order. Any price is a snapshot; ours are honoured while displayed, and if the American price moves before we buy, that movement is ours to absorb, not yours.
Variations matter. One Amazon page can hold thirty sizes and colours. The one you want is a specific selection on that page, and "the blue one, size 10" needs to be said explicitly or you will get whatever the page defaulted to.
How to do it through XOONX
1. Find the thing on Amazon US. Choose the exact size and colour you want.
2. Copy the link and send it to us, with the variant written out.
3. A person comes back, usually within hours, with one fixed price in Egyptian pounds — product, shipping, Egyptian customs and our work, all inside.
4. If you accept, you pay 20% and we buy it. The rest is due when it reaches Egypt, before it comes to your door.
The number we quote is the number you pay. XOONX carries the customs cost and the customs risk: if customs costs us more than we expected, that is our problem. Nothing is collected at your door.
You can also browse things we have already priced from Amazon and elsewhere on the Shop, or see every store we buy from.
The honest summary
Amazon US is worth using from Egypt for a narrow, valuable slice of its catalogue: dense expensive things, and things that simply do not exist here. For everything else the multiple will disappoint you, and we would rather tell you that now. There is a whole guide on the things we advise people not to bring in at all — read it before you order.
