Ramadan and Eid gifts from abroad — order early or not at all

The single most useful thing on this page is a date, not a product. Two to three weeks from purchase means the decision is made a month before, not a week before.

Every year the same thing happens: people start looking about ten days before Eid, and by then the honest answer is buy something in Egypt.

So the most useful thing here is not a gift list. It is a calendar.

Work backwards

Two to three weeks from the day we buy it. Add the days between accepting a price and paying the deposit — nothing is bought before that is confirmed — and add a margin for the shop being out of stock.

A month before the occasion: comfortable. Everything below applies.

A fortnight before: a gamble. Possible, not promised, and we will tell you which.

A week before: buy it here. We would rather say so than have you counting days.

Note that Ramadan moves earlier by roughly eleven days each year against the Gregorian calendar, so "the same time as last year" is not a plan. Work from this year's date.

If you are ordering for a specific date, tell us when you send the link. It changes our answer, and sometimes our answer is no.

What actually makes a good gift from abroad

The rule is the same one that governs everything here: value concentrated into a small space travels well. That happens to align neatly with what makes a good gift.

Prices well, and arrives beautifully

A watch — about 2.1×. A $250 watch lands at roughly EGP 27,150.

Perfume — about 2.3×, and almost never available here in the interesting variants.

Headphones — the best ratio we price, about 1.7×.

Small leather goods — a wallet or card holder, excellent value.

Sunglasses — about 2.0×.

Prices badly

Large chocolate and gift boxes — about 3.5–4.1×, and mostly presentation box. Worse, chocolate and Egyptian heat do not agree; between roughly May and October we would steer you elsewhere.

Anything big and inexpensive. A 60% discount on a bulky cheap item is still a poor import.

If you are abroad, sending home

This is the common case at Eid, and doing it through us rather than sending it yourself changes who pays.

Buy it there and send it, and whatever arises in Egypt is generally settled at the Egyptian end — your gift arrives as a bill for the person you were being generous to. Order it here and you pay one fixed final price yourself, from wherever you are, and nothing is collected on arrival. Not a smaller amount. Nothing.

Give us their address and phone number, and tell us if it is a surprise — we will keep it one. The longer version is in sending something to family in Egypt.

One thing worth saying

If the date is close and the thing is ordinary, buy it in Egypt. Local patisserie, local flowers, local gold — all excellent, all available today, and none of them costing three times what they should because of a box full of air. We are here for the thing you genuinely cannot get.

Send us a link and a person comes back with one fixed price, usually within hours. The Shop is everything already priced if you want ideas with real numbers attached.

Want the number for the thing you actually want?

Send us the link and a person comes back with one fixed final price in Egyptian pounds — everything included, nothing to pay at your door.
