Shopping the American sales from Egypt

Black Friday and the American sale season are the best few weeks of the year to buy from abroad — if you prepare before they start rather than during.

The American sale season is the best window of the year for buying from abroad, and most people miss the good part of it because they start looking on the day.

The discounts are real, they are deep, and the best items are gone within hours. Preparation is the whole game.

The calendar worth knowing

Late November — Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The deepest discounting of the year across almost every category, and the one weekend where mainstream electronics genuinely move.

Late December into January — end of season. Clothing and shoes, as American retailers clear winter stock. Excellent for shoes, poor for anything just launched.

Mid-year sales. Large American retailers run their own summer events. Narrower than November, but competition is thinner too.

A brand's own outlet, all year. Not a sale so much as a permanent clearance, and frequently better than a sale price. Worth checking before you wait for an event.

Prepare a week before, not on the day

This is the entire advice, and it is why this guide exists.

Make a list, with links. The exact product pages, the exact sizes and colours. Not "some headphones" — the model, the variant.

Get the landed prices in advance. Send us the links before the sale. You will know what each one costs delivered to your door in Egyptian pounds, so when a price drops you already know whether the discount makes it worth having. Deciding in the moment, on a dollar price, is how people end up with a 4× multiple on something bulky.

Know the normal price. American retailers mark up before they mark down, like retailers everywhere. A "40% off" on an inflated figure is not 40% off. If you have been watching the item for a fortnight, you know.

Decide your ceiling in pounds, not dollars. The dollar price is a third of the story.

What actually gets discounted

Reliably: last-generation electronics, headphones, shoes in the sizes that sell least, kitchen goods, and anything seasonal at the end of its season.

Rarely: current-generation flagship phones, the watch everybody wants, limited releases, and anything where demand exceeds supply. If it is scarce in November it will not be cheap in November.

The traps

A deal that expires while you decide. Sale prices move by the hour. If you have a fixed price from us in hand, you can decide in minutes rather than researching from scratch.

Cheap things that are still not worth it. A 60% discount on a bulky cheap item is still a bad import. The multiple does not care that you got a bargain. Read what not to buy from abroad before you fill a basket.

Buying more because it is cheaper per item. Ordering together does lower the cost per item, but by less than people assume — around 2% on a pair of shoes, considerably more on small cheap things. It is not a reason to buy something you did not want.

Sold out between quote and purchase. It happens in that weekend more than any other. If an item is gone before we buy it, you get everything back within five business days, with no deduction.

How to be ready

1. Build your list now, with links and variants.

2. Send them to us before the sale starts. A person will come back with a fixed price for each.

3. When the discount lands, tell us to go. We buy at the sale price.

4. 20% to start, the rest before delivery, nothing at your door.

One thing worth saying: the price we quote is honoured while it is displayed. If the American price moves between your accepting and our buying, that movement is ours, not yours.

You can browse what we have already priced on the Shop, or work out any other item yourself with the calculator.

Want the number for the thing you actually want?

Send us the link and a person comes back with one fixed final price in Egyptian pounds — everything included, nothing to pay at your door.
