Why a price changes, and what we hold
The exchange rate moves, shops reprice, customs assesses. Here is exactly which of those become your problem, and which stay ours.

A price from us is a fixed number, and people reasonably ask what "fixed" survives. Here is the honest inventory of what moves, and who carries each one.
What actually moves a landed price
The exchange rate. Every landed price starts as dollars. When the pound moves against the dollar, the pound figure moves with it. This is the single largest source of change, and it is entirely outside anybody's control.
The shop's own price. American retailers reprice constantly — sales, restocks, seasonal changes. A price on Monday is not a promise about Tuesday.
What the thing is. Category decides the customs treatment, and that varies enormously — a watch attracts several times what similar-value headphones do (why).
The size and weight of the actual box. Not the estimate — the real one. This is why the size guide matters so much.
Who carries what
This is the part that matters.
| What happens | Who it lands on |
|---|---|
| Exchange rate moves after you accept | Us |
| The shop raises its price before we buy | Us |
| Customs assesses higher than expected | Us |
| Something takes longer than expected | Us for cost, and we tell you about the time |
| The item sells out before we buy | Nobody — you get everything back |
| You change your mind before we buy | Nobody — you get everything back |
Once you accept a quote and your deposit is confirmed, the number does not move. Not for the rate, not for the shop, not for customs. That is what a fixed final price means, and it is the actual product — you already have access to American shops; what is hard to get in Egypt is certainty.
Why a quote lasts seven days
Because carrying that risk indefinitely is not reasonable. Seven days is long enough to think properly and short enough that we can stand behind the figure.
If a quote expires, ask for a fresh one. It takes hours, and a current number is better for both of us than an old one that neither side trusts.
Why prices on the site move
Every price on the Shop is honoured while it is displayed. Behind that, we re-read every supplier's price nightly and recompute against the current rate, so what you see is current rather than whatever it was when the card was made.
When a supplier's price has moved a long way, the card does not silently follow it. A person looks at it and decides — because a price on a card is a promise to whoever is reading it, and quietly repricing a promise is not something we want to be able to do by accident.
This means a card you looked at last week may be a different number today. Not because anything was hidden, but because the world moved and we would rather show you the true figure than a stale one.
What we will never do
Add anything at your door. The number includes Egyptian customs; nothing is collected on delivery.
Come back for more after you have accepted. If we got it wrong, we got it wrong.
Quietly substitute a cheaper version. If we cannot buy what you asked for, you get everything back and you decide what to do.
Misdescribe a category to make a price look better. That is how a fixed price stops being fixed, and how the problem becomes yours.
If you want to see the workings
The calculator uses the same engine that prices every card on the site. Put in a price, a category and a rough size and you will see how each of those moves the answer — particularly size, which surprises almost everyone.
