Buying a laptop or an Apple device from America

The numbers are excellent and the warranty question is real. Both things are true, and which matters more depends on what you are buying it for.

A $999 laptop lands at about EGP 89,237 — roughly 1.75× the dollar price, from our calculator on 7 September 2026. That is close to the best multiple of any category we handle, for the usual reason: a laptop is dense and valuable, so everything charged on size is small against what is inside.

Which makes the arithmetic easy and the decision harder, because this is also the category where the non-price questions matter most.

Settle these before you order

The warranty. Apple's warranty has international coverage for many products, which is unusual and genuinely valuable. Most other manufacturers' warranties are country-limited, and a machine bought in America may have no service path in Egypt at all. Check the specific manufacturer's policy for the specific product — not a general impression — before you decide.

For a main work machine you cannot be without for a fortnight, this consideration can outweigh the saving. For a second device, it rarely does.

The keyboard. American machines ship with a US English layout and no Arabic. If you need Arabic characters printed on the keys, you will be adding stickers or living without. Many people genuinely do not mind; some mind a great deal. Decide now rather than on the day it arrives.

The charger. Most modern laptops and phones accept 100–240 V, so a plug adapter is all that is needed. Some American equipment is 110 V only. Check the power brick, and ask if you are unsure.

Cellular bands, for phones. A phone bought in one market does not always support every network band used in another. This is a real trap and worth checking against the specific model number before ordering.

Refurbished or used. Manufacturer-refurbished from the brand's own store is usually excellent value and carries a warranty. A used machine from a marketplace seller is a different proposition entirely — no warranty, no practical return from Egypt, and the whole landed price at risk if it is not as described.

What it is worth against buying here

Egypt's market for computers is reasonably well supplied at the mainstream, and thin at the edges. So:

Usually worth importing

Higher specifications — the memory or storage configuration nobody stocks here

Apple products, where international warranty coverage removes the main objection

Professional and specialist machines

Anything not sold in Egypt at all

Often better bought locally

The exact mainstream model that is well stocked here, once you count the warranty and the ability to walk into a shop with a problem

Anything you need this week

A machine you will lean on hard for years, where local support has real value

The method for deciding is in is it actually cheaper than buying in Egypt: get the landed number, get two honest local numbers, and if the gap is under about 10% buy it here.

A note on accessories

Cables, docks, cases and adapters are small and often unavailable in Egypt in the exact form you want. They also price badly on their own, because the fixed costs of an order swamp a $30 item. Add them to a larger order rather than ordering them alone — that is the case where ordering together genuinely helps.

How it works here

Send the link with the exact configuration — the size, the chip, the memory, the storage — and we come back with one fixed price in Egyptian pounds, everything inside, usually within hours. One product page can hold a dozen configurations at very different prices, so the specifics matter.

You pay 20% to start, the rest before delivery, nothing at your door. And if our honest answer is that you should buy it in Egypt, we will give you that instead.

Want the number for the thing you actually want?

Send us the link and a person comes back with one fixed final price in Egyptian pounds — everything included, nothing to pay at your door.
