Buying sports and fitness equipment from America

We have priced a lot of things, and this category holds the widest spread we have seen. Same shop, same order, wildly different outcomes.

The rule, stated bluntly

Do not import weight. Import electronics.

Everything in this category that is heavy or bulky prices badly, because weight and size are exactly what the cost is built on. Everything small, light and expensive prices beautifully.

Running and multisport watches, heart-rate monitors, cycling computers

Power meters and sensors

Compression and technical clothing in sizes nobody carries

Small precise things: cleats, pedals, grips, replacement straps

Buy in Egypt

Dumbbells, plates, kettlebells, barbells — anything whose purpose is to be heavy

Benches, racks, machines

Yoga mats, foam rollers, medicine balls

Treadmills and bikes, which are both heavy and enormous

Egypt has a real market for gym equipment. Use it. The only thing you lose is a brand name, and you keep tens of thousands of pounds.

The one exception on heavy things

If a piece of equipment genuinely does not exist here in any form, and you have decided you want it anyway, then the multiple is simply the price of having it — the same logic as supplements. Just go in knowing the number rather than discovering it. We will tell you the figure before you commit, and we will usually also tell you what we would do.

Sizing, for anything worn

Technical clothing is sized less forgivingly than ordinary clothing, and American sizing is not European sizing. If you are ordering a wetsuit, a cycling jersey or running shoes, use the brand's own chart, and tell us the exact size — a garment that does not fit has cost you the whole landed price and cannot practically go back.

Watches, specifically

A running watch at 1.8× is one of the best imports available, and this is a category where Egypt's selection genuinely lags. The current generation of a sports watch, in the colour and band you want, is often simply not here.

Two things to check: that the model supports the satellite systems and features you actually want, and whether the band is a size that suits you — many are swappable, which makes a replacement strap an easy thing to add to the same order.
