Buying an iPhone from America

The numbers are among the best we price. The things that go wrong are not about money — they are about bands, warranty and which model number you actually bought.

An iPhone is dense, expensive and small — close to the ideal shape for bringing into Egypt. A $799 model lands at about EGP 69,409, roughly 1.71× the dollar price, from our calculator on 7 September 2026. AirPods do better still at about 1.64×.

So the arithmetic is easy. The care is all in the details, and getting one of them wrong is expensive.

Check these before you order

The model number. One iPhone is sold in several regional variants and they are not identical hardware. The model number — the `A`-prefixed code on the product page or the box — is the only unambiguous way to say which one you want. Send it.

Network bands. A phone built for one market does not always support every band an Egyptian network uses. This is the single most consequential thing on this page: a phone that works but drops to a slower connection is a phone you will resent for three years. Check the specific model against the bands used here before you commit, and ask us if you are not sure.

eSIM versus physical SIM. Some American iPhones ship without a physical SIM tray at all. If you need a physical SIM, that variant is not the one to buy.

Warranty. Apple's coverage has genuine international reach, which is unusual and part of why Apple prices so well as an import. It is still worth checking the specific product and country terms rather than assuming — and AppleCare has its own rules.

Locked or unlocked. A carrier-locked American phone is close to useless here. Buy unlocked, and be careful with listings that are cheap for exactly this reason.

New, refurbished, or used. Apple's own refurbished stock is excellent value and carries a warranty. A used phone from a marketplace seller is a different proposition: no warranty, no practical return from Egypt, and the whole landed price at risk if it is not as described.

Is it actually cheaper than buying here?

Sometimes clearly, sometimes not. Egypt's market for current iPhones is well supplied, and the gap narrows on the most common models. Where importing wins is the configuration nobody stocks — a particular capacity or colour — or a moment when the American price moves and the local one does not.

The method is in is it actually cheaper than buying in Egypt: get the landed number, get two honest local numbers, and if the gap is under about 10% buy it here, because you also get a local warranty and someone to complain to.

Accessories

Cases, cables and adapters are small and often unavailable here in the exact form you want. They price badly on their own — a $30 item cannot absorb the fixed costs of an order — so add them to the phone rather than ordering them separately. That is the case where ordering together genuinely helps.
